I need a 180mm adaptor for my Maguras (post mount to post mount) and I've been offered a 183mm Hope H mount.
Is 180/183mm a nominal size? Or is it exact?
I've measured my disc at 179-ish mm so my gut feeling is that the Hope mount won't work.....??
It's exact mate either 180mm or 183mm or 185mm.
I have two 183mm rotors for sale if that will help. 8)
A 180 disc will be fine with a 183 adaptor
So, the opinion is 50/50...!
If it's any help I had to use a 1.5 mm spacer between my 180 adaptor and the brake caliper to get it to clear a 183 rotor.
A 180 rotor will work with a 183 adaptor until the pads get worn then the top unworn part of the pads will touch and stop them grabbing the rotor.
As I thought. I'll get the right one then. No sense in saving a few quid and causing problems
Well I've actually done exactly what you're suggesting for about a year with no problems...
Makes sod all difference usually, depends what brakes you are using. Most will clear a 183mm disc and work perfectly on a 180mm mount.
