Anyone else experiencing problems with them ?
Ordered some grease for carbon seatpost from them and despite promises of delivery nothing has arrived.
This was ordered in November !!!
I think my seatpost will be well and truly seized by the time it arrives. 🙄

Yeah have you called them?

Steady on old chap after all they are a genuine family business not your faceless amalgamated breadhead type chain

If you have had several promises over the phone that your gears on the way you may have a point

But they are decent lads so give them a break

But on the other hand I had a lucky escape with a Blur LT I had booked as a demo when they cancelled my ride 2 working days before the day I had taken off work as holiday 6 weeks earlier when Id popped into the shop to book it although they did claim it was a Jungle thing not totally down to them

Id actually forgotten about that but still happily use them for workshop stuff

And I am so not a Santa Cruz kind of guy anyway notwithstanding the £££££ I saved buying a bike elsewhere

🙂

take your business else where. Although this is the first bad word I've heard against them.

Seems to me that some have a vested interest in said business ?
My thread was asking if anyone else is experiencing any problems and also that over two months to receive anything is a long time which I thought I would share with others thinking of buying anything from them.
I know I won`t in future.

STW cliqued to f***.

Fair enough but thats mildly put as opposed to "taking the p*** or what" as your title reads...and you wonder why people may get defensive over a bike shop with an otherwise good rep.

gotta agree with you there. i did try to help 😐 perhaps better advice call them tomorrow and ask if you don't have it in the week you would like a refund. 2 months is a long time to wait for grease however good the bike shop. I'm sure wiggle/CRC will sort you out

You wont hear a bad word said against them because they are a decent set of lads there, doing something they completely believe in - extremely rare in this day and age.

Maybe you should question your approach and stop being such a tw*t, it may work where you live, but up this way politeness and manners get you far better results. If you were that desperate then I know for a fact that a phone call would have seen you right.

Have you checked the website? It says to me that Pace Carbon Grease is currently unavailable, so perhaps its out of stock and they are struggling to get hold of more? Just a thought...

What difference does it make whether or not he phones. He's communicated with them by email and received assurances that it will be dealt with.

How about having your man servant personally deliver a letter with a wax seal on it.

I've found 18bikes to be good to average, yeah they stock some nice kit, and seem to do a good level of work in the workshop but they frequently seem to lack stock levels in basic parts. I appreciate the difficulties of stock levels and cash flow in a small business but I don't think they've got it quite right. On the whole, I'll continue to use them for stuff I can't sort myself or parts that I don't need in a hurry..

are you 13?

because im fairly sure the only people impressed by your swear filter avoiding are that age.

18bikes rock my socks, mainly becuae you can get tea by the pint next door, the staff are friendly and its full of bike porn 🙂 then again ive only ever bought token bits that live inthe bottom of my pack, tubes, spare chain, patches, etc etc.

Want to get some bad service? Try james' or Langsetts while your up that way. Decathlon is probably the best though, as cheep as buying online, as convenient as an LBS.

I've only ever had good service - but I normally use the phone to chat to them about stuff.

I'm not sure I agree with the approach he's taken but WTF has a point.

He ordered somethign and it wasn't delivered.

He chased the order and was assured it would be delivered. Twice.

Now, in my book, that's bad service. He may be the only person, ever, to have had a problem with 18Bikes but it doesn't change the fact he has had a problem and they've failed to sort it out. Everyone elses positive experiences and the warm glow it's left them with with won't change that.

And as for email vs phone. I find it a lot easier to email people than phone them if I want to complain/chase soemthing, it avoids confrontation and allows you to express what you want top say in a considered way. I agree phoning is oftenbetter and gets better results but if the shop offers email as a means of contacting them he's not wrong to use it.

Whoa why should he have to phone them? Its not very convenient for me to phone during shop hours mostly and I prefer to have a record of what's been said. If they have an email contact they should bloody answer it and 2 months is ridiculous.

Doesn't matter if they are 'a great bunch of lads'.

Sorry but I'd be pretty p1ssed if I didn't get my order after two months and why should he have to phone them after having contact through emails when they've promised delivery!!
Nice bunch of lads or not, That's crap service.

18 bikes is a small local shop , so they are not going to carry huge levels of stock, they are really friendly guys though a phonecall will sort it out i'm sure, maybe you should have called before the 2 months though, emails can easily get lost so could all be a genuine mistake

well, good morning to all!

We've been waiting for Pace grease just as long- along with plenty of customers. ALL orders have been updated (I've just checked) via the webshop - I apolgise if that email hasn't come through for you- we're only a phone call away, it would've been nice if you'd waited for a reply on your email instead if being quite so public.

anyhow- Pace rejected the last batch of the Grease they recieved (December IIRC) and didn't have a date on when it would be due. Our message was whether people were happy to wait (without any idea of timing, sorry) or prefer to cancel. Please let me know either way.

Si

Oh, and in terms of being assured it would be delivered- those dates will have been what we were told by Pace, I'm truly sorry we've let you down on those.

If they've replied, they've not got lost. If they managed to "lose" their inbox, they should still have the original order somewhere. If they don't it's their fault not the OPs. They may have a good rep but sometimes things go wrong and all the excuses in the world are pointless, the basic argument of "I've waited two months for something that they promised would be here much faster" is totally valid.

It's for 18 to sort out, not the OP.

Edit: And it looks like 18 are on the case 🙂

A little harsh there geoffj. That's not how I read the post at all. Why not go back and have another look instead of skimming the title and then jumping to the reply box?

Langsetts have always been good when I've been in. Good work on my bike last time it needed doing, and priced well too.
18 is a good little shop imho, not too keen on James' though. They don't seem to like customers.

I have had nothing but good service from them, nice people and a nice company to do business with. Call them, SPEAK TO SOMEONE FFS.

People in this day and age are quick enough to moan about a business or think there is something wrong if they don't receive goods. This is a major downside to the internet and forums..... IMO of course.

what about blowing the copious amounts of hot air you seem to have on it? or even pouring in the shit spouted from this thread to lube it up? or even pour some of the scorn aimed around into the bb?

If it's the Pace stuff it's probably out of stock with the supplier. I phoned Pace about some on Thursday and they said they're expecting it in on Monday.
