Considering replacing the forks on my Bullit in the next month or so. Currently 180mm each end but looking at axle-to-crown lengths I won't be able to get a new 180mm fork with the same a2c as the current Boxxer WC I have (about 525mm iirc). Even 160mm forks like the Lyrik seem to be taller by about 20mm. Will riding it with shorter forks than the rear travel mess up the handling? Bearing in mind I run the shock and its bottom out setting quite hard anyway, so probably never actually achieve full travel.. I like the geometry the way it is now and don't really want to raise the BB or slacken it much more than it is. Think a Totem or something with 560mm a2c would be too much.

Any forks to consider? I'd like 1,1/8" steerer, 160mm travel (unless I can get 180 in a short a2c), 20mm maxle and preferably u-turn/some kind of travel adjust. Not fussed whether coil or air, I can't tell a huge difference when actually riding the bike.

I'll only have about £300 (up to £350ish at a push) to spend so likely going second hand. Found these 2012 Marzocchis at a good price, any opinions and why are they so much cheaper than all other 2012 zocchi?

If you're not too fussed about the weight you might want to look at the U-turn Domains - I got a set from Winstanleys for about £300 last year. Running the bike "mullet" style (short at the front, long at the back) shouldn't matter if the new forks have the same A2C as the old ones, the head angle will stay the same.

That's the problem I'm finding, all the new 180mm (and even 160mm) forks have a longer a2c than my old Boxxers. If the BB and front end are much higher I think it'll start to feel crap round corners, its already quite high as it is.

I am a bit bothered about weight as this is really my only mtb at the minute, so have to do the odd climb on it as well as DH/FR. That being said it climbs reasonably well at its current 37lbs so long as the fork's tied down with a strap.
