[Closed] 130mm hub in 135 frame

Hi all,

I'm wanting to use a cheap road wheel (with a 130mm hub) on my pickenflickย (which has 135 spacing) as a trainer wheel, it won't be ridden on the road, just on the turbo trainer. Is this likely to present issues with gear indexing etc? or is it just generally a bad idea?

Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™‚

Is the road wheel a disc wheel? If not then aside from needing to add 5mm spacer and that the wheel won't be straight in the frame, chances are the disc caliper will hit the spokes.

You can probably bodge it but it would be better to get a cheap 135 disc wheel IMHO

Steel frame will have more than enough flex to do exactly what you want. I used to do it loads back in the day.

Cheers,

It's a ti frame so should be flexy enough for a 135mm hub, how would I go about spacing the hub to ensure the indexing isn't too far out?

Indexing will be unaffected

Some Ti frames have a habit of cracking. Is it a good idea to bend it more than its designed for?

It'll be fine. My Amazon has a 132.5 mm dropout spacing so it can take 130 or 135 easily.

Try it, go slowly and see what happens.

I've done it and didn't have an issue, that was on an alloy mtb frame
