What do you recommend for general xc/trail centre/enduro riding that fits with the title?

I'd go and look at some of the on-one complete bikes.

+1.

456 evo Sektor? about £800. Nice bike. A do it all bike. You could also ask them to change the fork out for some dual position sektor coils, and you'd have a 150mm for gnarrr...and a 120 for xc/singletrack.

You can usually pick up a Boardman HT Pro at 10% off, ~£900.

Taken mine up and down Lakes epics, trail centres and bridleway bashing.

Has upgraded wheels now...

I love the genesis core bikes. That raw up there is a bargain in my opinion.

Thanks guys, plenty to go at there, the 456 looks a little overkill for what it will be used for.

May i suggest you look at Atbsales Ex Demo , they have old stock brand new Whyte 905 for just a tiny bit over 1000 pound but very well specced. In my opinion s serious bargain a mate has one its really very good.

The frames are 2010 models and built up with nice fox forks and other goodies that were not standard.

Have a look in the classifieds? Bound to be something if you can cope with secondhand...

Not sure of the full bike prices but can you stretch to a Carbon 456?

I might be overkill for your needs but you'll find it hard to get a frame much lighter for a reasonable amount.
