Anyone know of any other options other than the Specialized Hotrock for a 12” pedal bike without stabilisers. I’m after something of a good quality like Isla etc.

Little boy on a 12” balance bike and seems ready for pedals. He can’t fit on any 14”.

I’ve seen the Cleary bikes but not available outside of the US unfortunately.

Even on a Cnoc 14 small? I'd be really quite surprised - if you lose the reflector you can get the seat another centimetre or so down. The size guide on their site is conservative..

My eldest started on a Giant Animator at about 3 1/2. Came with stabilisers but I took them off from the start. Youngest is about the same age and is just about to move to it from a balance bike. It's heavy, but options were limited here, and light-weight options were outrageously priced.

I'd add that geometry on 12" pedal bikes is pretty crap. In order to get ground clearance for the cranks, with the short leg length, they end up almost kicking themselves in the arse at the top of every pedal stroke.

If you can wait a couple of weeks then the Trek Precaliber will be available.

We've currently got this dilemma. Our daughter is desperate for a pedal bike, but in my opinion is too small for one.

We tried a few out a few weeks ago and agree with this:

I’d add that geometry on 12″ pedal bikes is pretty crap. In order to get ground clearance for the cranks, with the short leg length, they end up almost kicking themselves in the arse at the top of every pedal stroke.

She really struggled to get any momentum up (and that was on carpet tiles in the shop) because her legs were so bent at the top of the pedal stroke.

I think she'd be better off on a bigger balance bike for another year, but it's a battle I am losing.

One of the bike we tried was a Cuda Blox 12" which seemed about the best one in the shop, but it was crazy heavy! The website reckons 7.4kg.

I'm tempted to get her a Banana Bike GT and be done with it!

Thanks for the suggestions - in terms of the geo perhaps that’s why there aren’t many around. The Cleary one looks perfect and the Cnoc 14” small might fit but I’m not massively into the looks of it 😬

What’s wrong wit the Specialized Hotrock? Our two learned on one.

I’m not a fan of the coaster brake feature.

I bought my nephew a Frog 14" wheeler when he was 90cm tall. He couldn't quite touch the ground with the supplied seat post due to the bulky saddle clamp. Cut down /off a Thomson post that was seized in an old frame.
