Do all you folk running 10spd drivetrains get the quicklinks working easily by hand?
The only two ive had reason to connect/disconnect, have been really tight so im considering getting the tool when i eventually change from 9spd.
10-speed from Shimano and SRAM are not intended to be reused.
KMC can be reused, but seems a tight fit...not tried it yet.

I have some KMC ones which I cannot do by hand, so I bought the Park tool (which works great!) No experience with other makes of 10 speed links.
Annoying as all the youtube vids show people doing them effortlessly. I've tried all the "tricks" but no joy!
KMC here and all done by hand. Though, that doesn't mean I'll be able to do it by hand next time 😆 So I've got a wee tool (made out of broken circlip pliars) that'll unstick a stuck one.
I've had success using a 9-speed link on a 10-speed (road) chain.
The KMC ones on a SRAM chain are OK to do by hand, they were tight on a Shimano chain when I tried them though
9sp SRAM ones are supposed to be OK on 10sp kit
KMC 10sp links on 10sp XT chains here. They were very tight initially but have loosened off with use. I still use a KMC tool to undo them but can close them up without a tool very easily.
ok, buy the tool time then.
ive fitted a kmc 10x for a friend, which was tight but snapped into place under crank pressure.
The drivetrain i was looking at last week was 10sp, sram, i thought it was sram but it had a quick link, i didnt try very hard to undo it as i was just putting a new jockey wheel in, but it was toight.
KMC and YBN 10 SPD by hand here.
As an aside, Decathlon are selling Btwin branded ones(with KMC imprinted on the link!) for £3.99 a pair!!!
I've also been using 9 speed on mine, just a normal SRAM one. Put it on as a "temporary" fix 9 months ago and it has just stayed.
The only ones I can identify are KMC on Sram. Fine. Used others but no idea what combos. No problems.
Never considered a tool. Such a thing exists?
I too have successfully used a 9 spd quick link on a 10spd chain with no issues but, only for a short time. I then got a proper SRAM 10spd one-use Power Link. The method of standing on the pedals with the front brake on to click them in place worked fine for me.
I use a tool for undoing my 10sd ones it's made by either bbb or x tools carnt remember who was about 6 or 7 quid an makes life very easy ..... as for fastening them join them together by hand an click it into place by pedaling w brake on with link at the top between cassette an front chainring
KMC apparently changed the design and made it more difficult to undo them but they are reusable. They don't say they are reusable by using your hands though and do of course offer a tool 😉
Had a couple that came off no problem with hands, and one that was a right git and I ended up using the end of wire crimpers to free it. Same serial number on the link as the others though.
Fastening is always dead easy though and in the main I don't have to undo them on a ride. Definitely always carry a couple of them with me, though end up giving them to other people as I have KMC chains and they don't snap 😛 (not for me anyway).
Clarks make a 10spd link that can be undone by hand pretty easily.
I've used KMC missing links on Shimano & KMC 10spd chains and they are are pig when new and on a new chain. Once you chain & links are warn in/out, depending on how you look at it, they can easily be undone by hand.
I ended up buying superstars link tools, you get both much cheaper than any where else I could find. Saves you getting oily hands too.
