Tore my 9spd rear mech to bits last night so need a new one . could i get a 10spd XT mech to use with my 9spd XTR shifters I'm on the upgrade path to 10spd , i just wasn't sure if it was the shifters that have squeezed another shift in the overall cable pull or the mech having a tweeked pull ratio ? ? ?

Pull ratio is different, so no.
(I'm sure someone will confirm or even correct this if i'm wrong !)

No, it doesn't work. Search for my previous posts with a (crap) picture of why.
