Building up a short travel full sus bike to help my aged back. Bike all done, just need forks. I have some older Reba Race's on my hardtail (steerer's too short to transfer across 😡 ) which have been grand.
Looking at Rockshox again, and confused as to Recon Vs Reba, solo vs dual air etc. Not that good to want to constantly mess around with fork settings! So for max £300, any pointers as to what to go for.
Many thanks
Je James seem to be doing some offers if you fancy a change from rock shox;

I like the old Dual air systems as it allows you to very finely tune how the initial stroke feels. The newer versions are all solo air which basically automatically adjusts itself as you alter the air pressure. What travel, steerer tube size and axle size do you want?
Thanks - looking for 100mm travel; 11/8 steerer (std); QR 9mm
Something like a Reba RL then for £280 new.
Okay, I know these aren't Rockshox and are a little over budget but I have just bought some and they really are a lovely fork.
Doddle to set up, plenty of scope for fine tuning and a good price.

thanks all - my Reba's have been ultra reliable. How people finding the fox's for reliability?
Not had mine long enough to comment but my friend (who has worked in and managed bike shops for 10+ years) has ridden Fox for years and never had a problem with them.
The main thing is maintenance - yes you have drop the lowers off every so often and change the bath oil and a good clean of the stanchions after every ride and a good squirt of Fork Juice is advisable (according to him).
My view is - you pay £300+ for a nice new shiny fork so why not keep on top of the maintenance. Even if you by Fox own oil you get nearly a litre of it for £20ish, you need 40ml for the FIT forks so you get approx 25 oil changes out of a bottle - thats way less than a £1 a go.

Merlin have decent prices on Rockshox at the moment.. Was considering an upgrade to Rebas myself.
