[Closed] 100mm Forks that can take abuse from a beginner?

My friend has a Scott bike and the Suntour forks that came on it have failed miserably and are out of warranty so he wants to just forget about them and move on.

Now this is into an area I know little about, high end forks I can do but low end I don't know what's the best to use?

He doesn't mind second hand, doesn't ideally want to spend over £100 but if needs be I can try to push him.

It's a Large Hardtail, won't see 'extreme' abuse but don't want something race worthy that he'll break instantly.

So what is there?

Thanks in advance for any help!

wwaswas - Quick ebay search, there seems to be RL / SL / RLT etc, anything in particular known as better than others? Or more suited to my friend?

I'd say for the budget best keeping an eye out on here for soemthign in reasonable nick with some history rather than focusing on a specific model number/year.

( *believe* travel adjust is via spacer swap so doesn't have to be 100mm currently for him if you're prepared to do a simple dissaembly/spacer swap/reassembly on them.

I reckon a set of the cheapo Recons from on-one would be just the ticket

Hi g the recons are great forks I've got a set of 2010 s lite ones ( approx over 1/2 kg lighter than the ones on onone ). They were on my second bike which ain't seen much use. I was going to sell them to a mate of a mate but then use them on a ss build and now the wife thinks we haven't got room for another bike have decided to sell them again lol.

I would be looking for £90 posted recorded 1st class etc.

If your interested email me on gb81@live.co.uk if not no probs 🙂

I swapped out suntours for 100mm Recons - a world of difference.

Marzocchi Marathon R are fairly bombproof and cheap too.

@GSuperstar - not much to add to the advice you got already (those One One forks look ideal) but as someone who has had the "pleasure" of riding with Suntour forks frankly almost anything will feel like a massive upgrade !

I was going to suggest some RS Tora which are bomb proof coil jobs that are heavy but will not go far wrong but mine look excatly like those ones from On-one that look a bargain (assuming they have them in stock).
