Stupid, I know, but fancy giving it a go...

Anyone tried it, & what ratio did you use, also, what chainset?

Why stupid, many pro's and weekend racers run 1 * 10?

I do, 12-27 * 42

More stupid to run gears at front I think as they clog and more likely to unship your chain ..much prefer a 1x10..

I have ran 38t up front but now run 40t with 12x28 cassette

If you haven't got a low enough gear then its quicker to run after all its cross racing ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm not quite fit enough for 1x10 on my CX but if I was I'd definitely be doing it.

XX1 could be interesting on a CX bike.

I've been thinking the same but you would need a matching road shifter which hasn't been mentioned yet.

Surely with a long cage mech and 36t cassette, you;ve got the same range 1x10 as a traditional roadie-style setup for less weight? Have been meaning to do this myself for about 9 months, but there's always something else slightly more interesting to buy whenever I have a few quid spare

I though XX was the same ratio as the road stuff? I would assume XX1 would follow.

36t cassette is way to big for racing, as mentioned it would be quicker to run if you were using that ratio

Do any of you use a SS specific Chainset? If so, what?

Ok, bone question, can you fit a smaller chainring to this?

Something a bit more CX friendly?

Only reason I haven't 1x10'd mine is that I don't really want to spend the money on it... I don't get on with the narrow ratio cassette so I figure I won't lose much swapping to a mtb cassette, but I'll gain the range

But then I'm a very bad cyclocrosser so ymmv
