Hello and welcome to this week’s Eff Jee Eff. The seven hundred and fifteenth edition no less. Come aboard the Good Ship HMS SingletrackWorld as we set sail for shiny stuff.
We don’t have any music videos for you today because this week has seen new edits from Chris Akrigg and Josh Bryceland. The first of which is here…
502 Club T-shirts

- From: The Singletrack Shop
Your donations are still needed and if there was one thing that must surely convince you of our worthiness to remain a vital part of your existence, it’s clearly these T-shirts that finally arrived this week. If you don’t yet know what we’re on about then check out the details of our 502 Club here for a full explanation.
TLDR? We need your support in keeping Singletrack on the air and if you donate £50 or more you can get one of these.
Fresh Goods Friday 715: D’Movie
Complete with DVD bonus post credits features (FGF 714 offcuts that we managed to salvage from the corrupt file that we mentioned last week)
‘Normal’ service resumed this week. Apologies for the no-show last week. You all must have been totes devvoed at the lack of moving imagery alongside your FGF fodder. It won’t happen again. Well, it might. Apologies in advance.
Ozone Coffee Subscription
- Price: £10.50 (1 x Roasted Whole Beans 220g, delivered every 1 Week)
- From: Ozone Coffee
Coffee is like beer*. It’s a drink. It’s brown, generally. Not only that, it’s also the case that Good Stuff costs significantly more than Not-So-Good Stuff. If you’re fine with LidAldEscoBurys’ finest, then that’s great. Save yer pennies (well, pounds) and slurp on. If you’re a tragic caf-fiend like most of us prats at Singletrack then you may wish to skimp on your general groceries (honestly, own-brand puffed rice is fine) and throw your money at a purveyor of Good Coffee. We’re currently getting Good Stuff lobbed through our letterbox by the fine folk at Ozone. Roasted on Friday, delivered on Monday. I [Benji] would like to tragically point out that I correctly identified almond as one of the tasting notes. Because I am the most tragic of all. Tip: if in doubt, suggest “chocolate” as a tasting note; it’s always listed! Anyone fancy a pint?
*Or cheese. Or bread. Or tyre sealant.
Bob and Brad C2 Pro Massage Gun
- Price: £99.99
- From: Amazon
- SQUIRREL_TEXT_13073172
Take it from me, this is not something that is a good idea to use on a cracked rib. Ask me how I know. One of the more interesting features of the C2 Pro massage gun is its ability to deliver heat or cold for targeted pain relief and “improved recovery” (that the thing top-right in the case shown above with the USB-C port on it). “Heat increases blood flow, while cold reduces swelling, offering users the flexibility to seamlessly switch between therapies with the touch of a button.” What are the other attachments you ask, no doubt smuttily. Well, there’s a Ball Head, Air Cushion Head, Bullet Head and a U-Shaped Head. Weighing under 700g and coming with a swish carrying case, this massage gun is for those “on the move who refuse to compromise on recovery”. Please stop compromising on recovery, people!
Tilly The Dog
- Price: ❤️
- From: Anthony’s house
Say hello to Tilly, ladies and gentlemen. She’s a dog. One of those yellow ones. Quite chunky hands (that’s what they’re called isn’t it?) She doesn’t keep still very much. As you can see. She has a fondness for Ross’ clothing.
Bridgedale Mountain Bike Socks
- Price: £21.00 Summer Weight Coolmax, £24.00 Mid-Season Weight Merino, £25.00 Winter Weight Merino
- From: Bridgedale
- SQUIRREL_TEXT_13073178
Well done for waiting since January 2023 for the official launch of these foot sheaths. Available in Men’s and Women’s versions. And in three general seasons: Summer, Winter and Mid-Season. Let’s talk about the Mid-Season versions (because everyone just wear waterproof socks in winter and there is no summer anymore). Strategic pads with overfoot mesh ventilation. Anatomical vibration damping footbed. Achilles and ankle protected with strategically knit pads. Specifically designed left and right socks. Sport Fit gives supportive compression. Tighter knit cuff gives an extended close fit “to prevent debris getting in and means your sock won’t slip down or bunch in your footwear”. Merino Sport Fusion Technology “provides resilient padding, moisture wicking, odour control and outstanding durability on the trails.” Oof. Tootsies tech.
Tru-Tension Tubeless Bicycle Tyre Sealant
- Price: £19.99 (500ml)
- From: Tru-Tension
- SQUIRREL_TEXT_13073182
This sealant is made from a blend of carbon fibre and graphene “to enhance the structure created around the puncture to provide a more permanent fix”. Ammonia-free, Claims to seal holes and tears up to 7mm and last over six months.
CO2 friendly. “Doesn’t gum or ball up”. We shall see how this goes.
Tru-Tension Premium Bicycle Brush Cleaning Kit
- Price: £22.99
- From: Tru-Tension
A triptych of cleaning brushes. A big un with soft bristles. A domed brush for inserting into gappy bits. And a stiff bristled jaw and pokey end brush for drivetrain duties. Nothing amazing or pioneering here but they do feel better made than most.
Tru-Tension Monkey Juice Gel Bike Cleaner
- Price: £9.00 (1L), £4.99 (Concentrate sachet)
- From: Tru-Tension
- SQUIRREL_TEXT_13073185
Tru-Tension state: “The foaming formulation clings to the surface of the bike and penetrates microscopic holes within the dirt, quickly lifting particles away from the surface. All while leaving a dirt repellent finish which slows grime build up. Our formulation is completely Biodegradable and contains no harmful surfactants, salts, chemicals or acids. Unlike other cleaners which quickly evaporate or drip off, Monkey Juice is designed to cling to the surface. This means it stays where you’ve sprayed it, maximising the cleaning power.” Again, we’ll give it a go and see how it goes.
Tru-Tension BananaSlip Tungsten Wet & All Weather Lubes
- Price: £10.00 (50ml)
- From: Tru-Tension
- SQUIRREL_TEXT_13073188
These lubes claim to be the first Tungsten infused lubricants, “bringing space grade lubricants to the cycling industry!” They have all the usual claimed capabilities as every other chain lube out there (basically: “it’s amazing”) BUT we’ve used this stuff before and been really impressed. You can see some science data on this page if you’re interested.
Tru-Tension Tyre Monkey Tyre Lever
- Price: £9.99
- From: Tru-Tension
Its design keeps your hand at 90° to the wheel to prevent the problem of hitting your hand on spokes whilest also only requiring one tool (rather than multiple trad tyre levers). Look at the third photo above to see how it works.
Tru-Tension Bicycle Grime Guard
- Price: £14.99
- From: Tru-Tension
- SQUIRREL_TEXT_13073189
Protects your brake rotor while cleaning and lubricating your drivetrain. Allows full movement of chain and cassette. Run-off and drips are caught in the tray. I have high hopes for this product because it’s the potential for contaminating my brakes that’s prevents me for looking after my drivetrain properly. Well, that and sheer bone idleness.

Ratboy edit
He’s got some new signature Burgtec grips out. Which is enough of an excuse to insert this vid…
It’s Singletrack’s long running, weekly roundup of all of the new products that have been sent in to the magazine.
They’re sent in by bike companies and marketing agencies
They’re featured and then some are reviewed down the line in either Singletrack Magazine or in online reviews and photoshoots.
They’re usually sent back after review, or kept on long-term test bikes. But no one ever asks for shorts and shoes back. Trust us on that. Once we were asked to return some brake pads.
Nothing. Nil. Zero. Diddlysquat. Sod all. Just send all ‘next big things’ to us at – Fresh Goods Friday, Singletrack Magazine, Lockside Mill, Dale Street, Todmorden. OL14 5PX. Please note that if you require the products back after they have featured then you are responsible for arranging collection at your cost. While it is our policy to feature everything we receive in FGF if we decide your product is not suitable for publication we won’t do it. Publication is at our discretion. Whether a product goes on for publication as a review is at editorial discretion. Beer, coffee & spirits will ALWAYS be tested.
