Back in issue 153 in February, Hannah proposed an alternative approach to measuring rides. As part of that, we gave you a set of ride ‘achievements’ to collect in the month ahead. Here’s your next seasonally appropriate set of ride goals. Enjoy! https://singletrackworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/issue-153-last-word-weights-and-measures/

I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones. More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments. I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.

Excellent stuff. I’ve doubled up on the fly swallowing already. I was only out for an hour.

Nice! Only seen this now but I got a load of these yesterday on my first proper ride of the year:

Finish as the sun sets – too early, missed by 10 mins

Both wheels off the ground ✔

    Swallow a fly ✔

    Ride past public art ✔

Ride a trail before the bracken (nettles & brambles round here) takes over ✔

Ride (*ahem* fell off) a skinny ✔

    Ride past a ruin ✔

Read a visitor info sign ✔

Ride as fast as you can up a hill ✔ (if it counts on the way home with aching legs at about 2mph 🤣)
