Red Bull Hardline: Who Is Racing And How To Watch?

by 43

Red Bull Hardline, the gnarly and consequential Downhill race located in the Dyfi Valley on a track designed by Dan Atherton in 2014, takes place this weekend, 15/16 July. It will see the defending champion Jackson Goldstone lining up alongside a strong field, aiming to not just get down the course and its massive features, but to race it.

There are no women in the line up, however it looks like Jess Blewitt, who checked out the course in practice last year but didn’t race after crashing and breaking her collarbone, will be back for another look. It would be great to see some other women join her – and with no Red Bull Formation this year, there must be some big feature riders who are keen to fit in another event.

Who is your money on? Josh Bryceland has apparently been training/acting hard:

Hannah will be heading down to watch the event live and check out the riders’ set ups for the event. If you’re there, say hi! If you want to watch the action with company but can’t head to Wales, there are a some live screenings of Red Bull Hardline at local bike parks and live venues on 16th July, including:

  • Brink, London
  • No Limits, Leeds
  • Adrenaline Alley, Corby

Check out your local bike park’s website to get more information on whether to ‘just turn up’ or if you need to sign up to get one of the best seats in the house to watch Red Bull Hardline. Or, watch it on Red Bull TV from the comfort of your own sofa.

While you’re here…

I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones. More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments. I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.

BK nearly mowing down a couple of track-walkers on the lip of one of the big jumps was entertaining.

Looking at the track conditions on Kerr’s run in the wet, some of those surfaces would have taken a beating if it had been raced on. Changing conditions in an xc race is one thing, but running into a 100ft gap? That might be dicey at best.
