…and no, the answer isn’t through your fingers from behind the sofa.
The diggers and riders have been out in the Utah desert for a week or so now, so it’s time to start stringing those tricks and lines together ready for the finale.
This year’s riders are as follows:
- Brandon Semenuk
- Kurt Sorge
- Reed Boggs
- Cam Zink
- Tyler McCaul
- Kyle Strait
- Thomas Genon
- Ethan Nell
- Jaxson Riddle
- Szymon Godziek
- Alex Volokhov
- Andreu Lacondeguy
- Brett Rheeder
- Carson Storch
- DJ Brandt
- Dylan Stark
- Tom Van Steenbergen
- William Robert
It’s a lineup totally dominated by Americans – nine of the riders are from the USA. Add the Canadians in as being from the American continent, and that leaves you with only four riders from Europe. No Brits this year!
Dylan Stark is a relative new face on the freeride scene, having come from a background in BMX. Having been spotted by Brandon Semenuk and encouraged to progress, it’ll be interesting to see how he gets on for his first trip to Rampage.
Alex Volokhov is no stranger to digging at Rampage, but this is his first year as a rider. As we’ve seen at Red Bull Formation, being a digger is a big help in developing and understanding of how the terrain works and reacts to the bike. Definitely another one to watch this year.
The 2022 venue revisits the 2008-2013 competition zone, meaning some riders will have been here before. In the years since the venue was last used, bikes and tricks have come on in leaps and bounds (no pun intended). What will the riders bring to the site that saw Cam Zink 360 off the Oakley Icon Sender in 2010 and Kelly McGarry backflip over the 72-foot road gap in 2013? The canyon gap will be there again… can anyone make McGarry’s backflip look like a mere bunny hop?
The event itself will be streamed live exclusively on ESPN+ in the U.S., and on Red Bull TV in all other countries. The live feed starts at 5.30pm UK time, on Friday 21st October. This is earlier than originally planned, due to anticipated winds later in the day on Friday in Utah. In addition, the complete event will be available on-demand on both ESPN+ and Red Bull TV following the competition.
Get hyped with some warm up content…
Then…
…and now:
William Robert, on a Norco Shore, will be running the number one plate this year:
Does anyone ride clips at Rampage? Surely not.
Jaxson Riddle is on his home turf. Or dust. Imagine growing up with this as your local ride spot?
Commencal has three riders in the event. As is the tradition, they’ve all got a specially decorated bike for the occasion. Because nothing says ‘throw yourself off some cliffs’ like a lovely new bike with custom paint, huh?
Andrew Lacondeguy has a silver glitter option.
Brett Rheeder gets yellow…
And Kyle Strait get a sort of wood and neon signs finish… yee-ha!
Remember last year?
JP Gendron is there again shooting pics for us. Can he beat last year’s gallery of great shots?
Women are freeriders too…
