British Cycling National XC Series Rd 4: Cannock Chase

by 2

A welcome return to Cannock Chase for Round Four aka the round much nearer to most people than some of the previous ones. Before anyone starts, to have a race you need an organiser and a landowner, and this season, somewhere where all the trees haven’t fallen over.

    Sounds like a great weekend.
As someone who rides the Chase occasionally I’d be interested to know if any of the circuit planned for the Commonwealth Games was trialled for this or was.it kept separate?

And if it was does it look promising for the Games?

Unfortunately it doesn’t appear anyone with local knowledge has been part of the planning for the commonwealth course. They bring in their own planning team as I understand. So I doubt the course at the weekend will be part of the course for the commonwealth. It’s a shame really because the courses at the Cannock events have been consistently good. However, maybe a fresh set of eyes bring fresh ideas. Let’s hope so.
