Top 5 Slopestyle Runs – Crankworx Innsbruck 2021

by 1

If you didn’t watch the slopestyle you’re definitely missing out. If you want to check it out, you can see the replay here. Alternatively, if you just want the best bits check out the top five runs from the event below.

Who do you think had the best run? With most of the top guys scoring close to 100, it was such a close event. You can see the results here.

Emil Johansson is the man nobody in the slopestyle scene can match. The young Swede put in an incredible trick-heavy run, with both regular and oppo tricks, all linked with precision. Taking his fourth slopestyle win in a row, Johansson took home gold with a winning score of 97.5.

Slopestyle Top Runs

I feel amazing about the opposite cashroll. It’s a trick that I’ve worked really hard on. Doing tricks opposite is something that’s very necessary in Slopestyle and, for me, that type of stuff is really hard. I’m way better at working on big rotations, big, exciting tricks. So this was kind of a mix. It was opposite but it was still kind of wild and exciting, so I had a lot of motivation to work on it. I worked on it for a couple of years, and this is actually the first place I’ve ever done it on dirt…so it was a lot of relief of pressure that I could put a big, opposite manoeuvre in my run. That felt amazing.

After such a long time of not competing, there was more pressure. When you’re standing on the top of the start ramp all the time, all year, it kind of becomes second nature. The nerves kind of become normal. But when the competition started there were so many butterflies in my stomach. I started to feel so nervous. I thought ‘oof, this is the feeling that I’ve missed the past 15 months.’ So that was part of it. But also heavy motivation.

Torquato Testa had the highest score after the first runs, with a 93.25. It was strong enough to earn him a bronze medal.

It feels super good, because the other podium was in Rotorua in 2017. It’s already been a couple of years that I didn’t do podium in Crankworx. So, super stoked to be back here and to be back on the podium, especially after a long break like this one. So it’s fantastic.

Not too good about writing about myself, but not so bad at writing about other things. There was a time that I hated bikes, but then they became my life. Wouldn't be the person I am if I hadn't been on this journey. Here's to bikes, drinking tea and everything that comes with life on two wheels. I'm Lauren, I like bikes and writing about them. Always trying my best and up for adventures.
