2021 Commencal Clash Signature

2021 Commencal Clash | Same look but all-new sporty angles

by 2

Another new update from Andorra as Commencal unleashes the 2021 version of the popular Clash platform. Same look, but all-new sporty angles.

The Commencal Clash has always been a bike that I’ve looked at as a freeride or mini downhill bike, but in it’s latest incarnation this big travel bruiser has turned into a more uphill friendly mover.

Beauty!!!

First and foremost, the 2021 Commencal Clash shares the same shape and aesthetic with the previous version of the bike, but it is an all-new frame featuring more reach and a steeper seat tube angle. On the size large, Commencal has stretched the Clash out with a 490mm reach measurement, combined with a 76.2-degree seat tube angle (if you’ve read 77.2 degrees elsewhere that’s because they’ve not received the updated geo numbers).

And perhaps for the first time ever, a longer and steeper update has actually surprised us. With the Clash portrayed as a freeride/mini downhill bike the shorter reach and slacker seat angle made sense, but it’s clear now that Commencal thinks of the Clash as a smaller wheeled enduro bike, one that can still huck a 40 footer, but now you can easily ride back up for another run.

Commencal has also updated the frame with a slacker 64-degree head tube angle, shorter offset forks and a more linear suspension kinematic. The rear suspension is increased slightly from 165mm to 170mm, and with a flip-chip, the rider can either set the backend for big downhill hits or more progression at the jump spot.

As we’ve seen with the release of the new Meta AM and Meta TR, the 2021 Commencal Clash also comes with a shorter seat tube for increased standover and compatibility with modern long travel dropper posts.
