Bontrager WaveCel Helmet Range Expanded

by 2

Bontrager’s WaveCel technology, claimed to provide better impact protection than traditional helmet construction, is introduced to three new helmets: the Rally WaveCel and Starvos WaveCel for adults, and the Jet WaveCel for kids.

The Rally WaveCel, price £129.99, is an off-road helmet with a Boa dial closure system, an adjustable visor, extended rear shell, and LockDown dividers for easy helmet strap management. The Starvos WaveCel, £99.99, has more of a roadie styling to it, with no visor. It has a one-handed Headmaster fit system and LockDown dividers for easy strap management, and is available in a wider range of sizes, right up to XL.

Rally WaveCel

  • 54-60cm – medium
  • 58-63cm – large
  • 4 colours: Black, Marigold/Black, Olive Grey/Roarange, Azure/Nautical Navy
  • £129.99

Starvos WaveCel

  • 51-57cm – small
  • 54-60cm – medium
  • 58-63cm – large
  • 60-66cm – extra large
  • 3 colours: Black, White, Radioactive Yellow
  • £99.99

Jet WaveCel

  • 50 – 55cm – youth helmet
  • £69.99
  • 4 colours: Matte Black/Volte, Gloss White/Azure, Gloss Vis Green/Royal, Gloss Magenta/Ultra Violet

On the kids and youth side of things, the Jet WaveCel costs £69.99 RRP and is a skater-inspired helmet with a Fidlock magnetic buckle that fastens quickly and easily, along with a Dialled fit system for a secure and comfortable fit, and thick helmet pads that are easy to remove for cleaning. The Jet WaveCel also comes with a sticker pack for customisation. (Stamps feet, throws a huff, sulks that adults want stickers too…).

Both Rally and Starvos WaveCel helmets were apparently awarded five stars in Virginia Tech’s Helmet Safety Rankings (although at time of writing neither is yet listed on the site, though other WaveCel helmets are). The Jet WaveCel meets ATSM standards, whose tests Bontrager says use a smaller mass headform more realistic to younger riders.

I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones. More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments. I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.
