The Full Moxie | Pipedream Cycles launches steel suspension bike

by 7

Pipedream Cycles has gone finally full bounce with a new steel full-suspension frame named The Full Moxie.

Hardcore hardtail fans and lovers of steel will be well versed on who Pipedream Cycles are. The British frame maker made its mark with the Moxie hardtail, a frameset which they’ve continued to evolve over the years, but today is the launch of something new.

Simple steel suspension.

The Full Moxie is a fully-suspended steel bike that take a few styling an engineering cues from the Moxie hardtail but adds 140mm+ of rear wheel travel to the mix. The tig welded frame is made from a custom made 4130 tubeset that doesn’t need any external gussets to ensure strength, resulting in a clean finish and those sexy skinny tubes.

Those custom steel tubes make up the entire frameset including an asymmetric swingarm featuring a neat ‘X-Brace’ to prevent any rear end flex.

Keeping with the simple ideology of a steel bike, Pipedream chose a single pivot design with a beefy alloy shock yoke to tune kinematics.

We’ll have more on the Pipedream Cycles The Full Moxie later in the week, but for now, check out the press release below for more details.

We knew that Moxie hardtail was up for anything. Rave reviews from media and customers backed that up, so we were keen to know where we could land with The Full Moxie.

Single pivot simplicity

Custom 4130 tubing.

Right from the start, we knew we had to keep the clean, distinctive lines of the Moxie, but not sacrifice performance and reliability. With this in mind, a single-pivot suspension design was the best way forward. Not only are we able to tune the kinematic to suit, but also keep maintenance down to a minimum and as we all know, less spanner time means more ride time.

Our simple single-pivot suspension uses a shock yoke to wrap around the seat tube to produce 140mm+ of progressive travel. This allows us to use a full uninterrupted tube, perfect for long travel dropper posts. We also designed both sizes of The Full Moxie with the same short 420mm (centre to top) seat tube to maximise standover.

Geometry with the Moxie stamp of approval

Clean lines.

The Moxie is always praised for its balanced geometry, numbers that help pros, and average Joes in every aspect of trail riding, and The Full Moxie is no different.

2 lengths are available, Long with a reach of 470mm and Longer at 510mm. Each frame runs the same 64-degree head angle (based on a 160mm fork), 77.5-degree seat angle (effective) and 440mm chainstays.

Up, down, along or through, no matter how or where you ride, The Full Moxie promises, playful and predictable handling in all conditions.

Custom The Full Moxie Steel Tube Set

No external gussets.

Chances are if you’re reading this then you know that Moxie and steel go hand in hand, and that’s our chosen material for The Full Moxie.

Working with our manufacturing partners, we have developed a custom 4130 tube set for The Full Moxie to ensure we don’t need to run gussets or bracing to ensure strength and safety. We’ve run full industry testing and have passed with flying colours, even our team of test riders haven’t run into any issues, no matter how hard they’ve tried.

The Full Moxie X-Brace

The Moxie X Brace.

When something works so well and looks so simple then you know it took a long time to design. That’s The Full Moxie in a nutshell, but our X-Brace is perhaps the best example.

The X-Brace ties the rear end of The Full Moxie together. It ensures the frame is stiff and the suspension does the job it was designed to do. It might not look like much but it’s those little details that really count.

The Full Moxie is available in 3 vivid colours: our signature pink, an electric blue and a rust orange.
