MTB Movie Nominated For Best Film Award

by 2

Here at Singletrack Towers we are practising our best red carpet moves, choosing our finest frocks, and arranging security to protect us while we’re dripping in diamond tiaras. Why? Because our film ‘Mountain Biking: The Untold British Story‘ is up for the title of ‘Best Film’ at the Kendal Mountain Festival this weekend!

Mountain Biking – The Untold British Story coming to DVD soon.

On second thoughts, maybe a down jacket and bobble hat is more appropriate than a Versace little black dress, but nonetheless we are delighted (stoked even) to be up for this award. The Kendal Mountain Festival is a prestigious event bringing together people from across the outdoor industry. Recognition by your peers feels great – like being told by Steve Peat that your bike is cool, or your handling skills are ace. It’s already been great to get positive feedback from people who have seen the film, thanks to everyone who has already watched the film and told us how much they enjoyed it. We really appreciate it.

Reviews have been pretty good

There are 5 showings of our film across the weekend in the ‘Frontier’ showing, which is described as ‘Where the wild things are… where dreams are found, forged, laid down as paths, screwed into place, waxed, racked and cycled away on.’ Also in the Frontier shows are films about climbing, surfing underground, skiing on sand, and chasing tornadoes – sounds like a great way to spend a few hours. Hop on over here if you want to buy tickets to see our film at the Kendal Mountain Festival.

There’s a whole bunch of awards up for grabs, and excitingly we don’t know which category we’ve been nominated in. We think we can safely assume we’re not going to win Best Climbing Film or Best Mountaineering Film, but we’re itching to see which category we’re nominated in – imagine how giddy we’ll be if we win! Director and Producer, Pip Piper, will be there (hopefully with lengthy tearful speech prepared).

If you’ve not yet seen the film and can’t make it to Kendal this weekend, it’s available to download on Vimeo, YouTube, and Amazon Prime, and is coming to iTunes in the next few weeks. However, even better than a download, we are now able to offer you the full movie on DVD, plus a bunch of extras to extend your viewing pleasure:

1:Steve Peat: The Early Years
Steve talks about how he got into MTB in the early days.

2: Drop and Roll tour at Fort William World Cup 2016 with Danny MacAskill
We see some of the amazing stunts of the drop and roll tour up close and personal whilst Danny talks about the whole trails scene.

3: Coed y Brenin: Then and now
The UK’s first trail centre has had a massive impact and MTB ranger Andy Braund talks about its beginnings and its current developments including ” the slab”

4: Tea and Spirituality with Martyn Ashton:

I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones. More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments. I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.

Having impatiently bought it on vimeo as the dvd was for some reason behind the release, i’m now stuck with the dilema of buying it again to watch the extras. Oh well on the Christmas list better than more socks.

Have just placed my order! I saw it on opening night and can’t wait to see it again.
