Katy Winton and Casey Brown sign with Trek

With Tracy Moseley sort-of-retiring last year, we’ve been wondering who’d be riding for Trek Factory Racing next (apart from The Athertons, of course), and now we know: Katy Winton and Casey Brown.

Katy Winton - Trek Factory Racing
In Chipps’ words, Katy is “Peebles based and very fast”. Trek expand on this to inform us that she’s relatively new to Enduro, switching from XC in 2013, and in just two years won the Scottish Enduro Champion crown. She’s been winning races since she was 12, and will be focussing on the EWS.

Originally from New Zealand, Casey Brown is former Queen of Crankworx, and will be racing enduro and downhill for Trek. She too is very fast, and a few years ago briefly removed her brakes (!) to become even faster:

David started mountain biking in the 90’s, by which he means “Ineptly jumping a Saracen Kili Racer off anything available in a nearby industrial estate”. After growing up and living in some extremely flat places, David moved to Yorkshire specifically for the mountain biking. This felt like a horrible mistake at first, because the hills are so steep, but you get used to them pretty quickly. Previously, David trifled with road and BMX, but mountain bikes always won. He’s most at peace battering down a rough trail, quietly fixing everything that does to a bike, or trying to figure out if that one click of compression damping has made things marginally better or worse. The inept jumping continues to this day.
