Triton Follows Ti Balance Bike with 20in Geared Model

by 1

Remember that Ti Balance Bike from Russia from a couple of years ago?  Well its owner hasn’t stopped growing and now it’s time for an upgrade to a geared 20in big kid’s bike.

Mmm... titanium.
Mmm… titanium.

We’re not sure what happened to that old saw about cobblers’ kids going barefoot- the Triton brood seems to be doing quite well in the bicycle department.  As much a demonstration of its builder’s capabilities as anything else, this 20in titanium hardtail looks lovely- and lovingly-executed.

The Hope discs, Tune hubs, and X01 one-by-seven downhill drivetrain would be welcome on most anything while the balance of parts draw heavily from Answer’s BMX catalogue.

Taken together, the “Max G” weighs in at 6.9kg (~15lb)- essentially the same as last week’s CarbonXS.  Feel free to weigh in below, but Triton wins this non-parent’s imaginary money.

It’s not all kiddie projects- Triton has made its name building full-sized bikes to suit its customers’ whims. Their gallery shows an impressive range of projects, ranging from handsome disc road bikes to this tasteful ti-and-orange plus-sized hardtail. The custom seatstay yokes are especially nice, but on the whole the work is impressive and well worth a browse.
