The finalists this year are…

  • Kirroughtree
  • Bike Park Wales
  • Whinlatter Forest

Kirroughtree

Kirroughtee trail centre is part of the Scottish Borders 7Stanes project and it has really come of age over the last few years. With a trail head shop, cafe with full facilities plus a complete range of graded trails from bimbly green to full on black, there’s something on offer for every rider and certainly enough to keep you occupied for an entire weekend. Not to mention that it’s nestled in some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK. But it’s the quality of the trails that has really singled Kirroughtree out for this award. Even on the wettest of days they are simply superb.

World class trails attract a lot of events like the PMBA series to Kirroughtree

Bike Park Wales

Loam line
Loam line at BPW. Hit it fresh from the uplift

Bike Park Wales is one of only two Welsh bike parks built around an uplift service for riders. The recent announcement of a new trail consisting of the longest continuous downhill section of singletrack in the country is just the icing on the cake for what has rapidly developed into one of the most ‘bucket list’ riding destinations in recent years. Gravity centered all the trails may be but that’s not to say it’s only for downhillers – there are graded trails suited to every rider from beginners to air addicts. With an on site fully stocked shop and cafe serving only local produce, there’s everything you need to spend a great day on the bike or off it.

Whinlatter Forest

You may start in a forest but you are soon exposed to the views of the Lake District

Whinlatter Forest is nestled high up in one of the most picturesque parts of the Cumbrian fells. The fact that the overflow carp park has an over flow car park should give you an idea of this trail centre’s popularity. First lets talk about the facilities. They are first class and go above and beyond what you would normally expect of a trail centre with a Go Ape centre, childrens’ adventure playgrounds, visitors’ centre.. and all that before you even set foot in the constantly in demand cafe and the separate and extremely well stocked Cyclewise bike shop. Then, there’s the actual riding. Trails from easy but flowy and fast blues to super technical blacks – all within easy bailout distance of the centre in case things don’t go to plan.
