Eurobike 2015: Sixpack Racing

German direct sales outfit Sixpack Racing do a bunch of components in a range of fetching colours, variously anodised or powder coated. They stress heavily that their company is rider owned, presumably meaning their products are also very much rider designed and tested. They had a lot on show, including some new stuff that they talked me through.

Hot off the CNC mill, this is the Kamikaze pedal. They run on 4 DU bushings with no bearings, and will sell for a budget conscious €69.50

Unfortunately they didn’t have time to produce a prototype of their new seatclamp before heading to Eurobike, but expect to see one with a carbon dropper cable guide from them soon (Dubbed “Leader”).

Their brand new version of the Menace stem is a pleasingly angular hunk of metal, available in lots of colours, but of course also stealthy, murdered out black.

It requires you to push the star nut further down your fork steerer, which is what the (supplied) delrin tool on the left is for. You can also flip it over when you don’t want GoProngs sticking up from your top cap.

David started mountain biking in the 90’s, by which he means “Ineptly jumping a Saracen Kili Racer off anything available in a nearby industrial estate”. After growing up and living in some extremely flat places, David moved to Yorkshire specifically for the mountain biking. This felt like a horrible mistake at first, because the hills are so steep, but you get used to them pretty quickly. Previously, David trifled with road and BMX, but mountain bikes always won. He’s most at peace battering down a rough trail, quietly fixing everything that does to a bike, or trying to figure out if that one click of compression damping has made things marginally better or worse. The inept jumping continues to this day.
