Go Go Gadget Rescue!
Well here’s something truly useful: Road ID has been making custom-engraved ICE (In Case of Emergency) bracelets for some time now. And as much as we like the idea (and know that we should), it’s not something we tend to run back to the house for when forgotten. Our blinking, chirping gadgets, on the other hand…
So when Road ID’s announcement of a pair of FitBit-compatible IDs landed in our inbox, a light went off. By tailoring their usual laser-engraved stainless steel plaque for the Fitbit Charge or Flex activity tracker, the former has a much better chance of being present in the event that rescue personnel should need your emergency contacts.
It’s not sexy and it’s not fun, but for $30 (£19) shipped from the USA, the Fitbit-specific RoadID can provide a good deal of peace-of-mind to loved ones. And it seems a very small price to pay to help ensure that one’s contacts can be located during a crisis.

How does it save your life then?
I have one of these – emergency contact details and QR code & PIN for emergency services to be able to access your medical info (which you load onto the site).
Never had reason for it to be called into action, but it does give the wife an extra bit of comfort if I’m riding alone.
