Our Dan is a massive fan of DVO Suspension, so he couldn’t wait to see its latest offerings. To start off with it had the new Diamond fork. We first spotted the Diamond back in June at the Fort William World Cup. The single crown enduro fork was just a model back then but now DVO is ready and hope to have it in production by the end of next month.
The Diamond fork is packed full of DVO’s unique suspension technologies, [and Capital Letter Acronyms – Ed] mainly its OTT (Off The Top) feature. This improves traction and comfort, has a firmer mid to end stroke and doubles up as a sag and ride height adjust. Quick Range, Low Speed Compression, High Speed Compression Adjust and a Closed Cartridge Bladder System are also included in the Diamond. Different from the model we saw in Scotland, DVO has gone for some black-coated stanchions and the lowers will be available in green and black colours. Unfortunately the green lowers weren’t on display due to an airport mix up resulting in a lost bag. The Diamond will be available in 26, 27.5 and 29in models and range from 140-160mm travel via internal spacers.
Just for some added awesome DVO’s crown on the Diamond has been printed with logos and text.
Next up is the existing Emerald Inverted DH fork. DVO’s first release into the mountain bike world was full of new, unseen technologies. OTT, CTA (Carbon Torsion Arch), Bottom Loader and a Twin Tube Open Bath Damper.
Speaking to the guys down at DVO next on the cards is a conventional (right way round) DH fork, hopefully it will still have the fantastic look and performance that the Emerald has.
Also on the DVO stand was the recently released Jade shock. The coil DH/enduro shock is once again rammed full of features including: Loader Style Compression, Bladder, High Flow Emerald Piston and Cooling Fins.
The Jade’s unique bladder is claimed to create amazing small bump compliancy backed up with the High Flow Emerald Piston which eliminates harshness and delivers dynamic damping. The Jade has a range of adjustments, high speed compression, low speed compression, rebound, spring preload and easy tuning via the loader system. Available in 7.875 x 2.25, 8.5 x 2.5, 8.75 x 2.75,9.5 x 3 and 10.5 x 3.5. The cooling fins on the top of the bladder help to keep the shock running cool even in the harshest conditions, and they look ace.
Another DVO shock is in the pipeline: drawings for an air shock have just been finished and should be getting tested by the DVO crew very shortly.
Mr Cedric Gracia had his Santa Cruz Nomad from the Whistler EWS with dust and everything on show. Whistler was the first time Gracia rode the new Diamond fork and after a quick chat I got the impression he was blown away with its performance.
That’s all for now, Dan’s off to find some lunch that isn’t full of meat or covered in salt. Be ready for more Eurobike stories coming your way from the delightfully sweaty press room here in Friedrichshafen.
