New Ibis hardtail leading Tour Divide

All of the stuff
All of the stuff

Currently leading the epic Tour Divide mountain bike race from Canada to Mexico, Ibis-sponsored rider Jefe Branham has been spotted not only on gears- but on big wheels as well.  Riding what we can only assume is a new Tranny 29er, Ibis has been coyly releasing partial shots of the bike – a head tube here, Niner fork there – but no really clear shots.

The photo above pictures a pair of Trannies on their way to Singlespeed Worlds (oddly, all three bikes with shifters) and Jefe is rocking gears on the Tour Divide.  So, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume that the new model, like its little-wheeled older brother (sister?), uses some variation on Ibis’ “slot machine” adjustable-length chainstay (with seatstay pivot) to allow for both singlespeed and geared use.

Need more?  Jefe Branham talks about his Tour Divide equipment in the video above: the password is “tranny29”  More when we have it…
