Since 1999, the MTB Marathon series has been the premier marathon series in the United Kingdom. The MTB Marathon series offers riders a calendar of events throughout the year, with each individual event serving up to three or four route options of varying lengths. Mountain bike riders of all skill levels get to enjoy riding some of the UK’s most epic mountains and terrain with the comfort of being fully supported on their adventure.

Rides for riders of all abilities.

Cycle-Tec principals Gareth Rowland and Dave Evans have been involved with the MTB Marathon series, as participants and as part of the team promoting the series, for the past thirteen years. As new owners, their plans include increasing the overall series appeal by offering a fun experience for riders and any non-riders who they bring with them for the weekend.

“We’d love nothing more than for people to see our events as a great weekend out with their friends or their family. Re-formatting the event weekend with the introduction of a bar, entertainment, demo rides and quality caterers, we hope to add to the appeal,” says Rowland.

Newbies, seasoned veterans and significant others can all look forward to showers, toilets, an energy-packing pre-ride pasta meal and a fully-licensed bar. All riders can pedal with confidence knowing each route will feature TORQ feed stations staffed with mechanics, medics and trail marshals.

Less experienced riders can expect a forgiving 25 km loop at all events, while expert riders will love tackling more difficult options like the Monster Marathon at Drumlanrig Castle, a nod to MTB Marathon founder John Lloyd’s legendary 100+ km grinds.

You and your traveling companions will have more fun in 2014.

In addition to extending the appeal of the series, Cycle-Tec has also added to the arsenal of event sponsors. Topping the list is Scott Sports, who has signed on as title sponsor.

Phil Stephenson of Scott Sports is excited about the partnership, “For years we have been fans of the Marathon Series, our very own legend of the sport, Nick Craig has always attended when possible, so it has always been on our radar. To be able to take it to the next level and work with Dave and Gareth at Cycle-Tec and all the other sponsors was an opportunity that we could not resist.”

Cycle Tec will continue to add sponsors. The current list includes: Pioneer, Schwalbe, TORQ, Bike Monkey, Fibrax, USE, Exposure Lights, Syncros, and your’s truly…Singletrack. Action Medical Research will fill the role of charity partners.
