(Relative) bargain rims join carbon fibe line
Known for their frame-protecting English-made composite downtube shields and mudguards, RockGuardZ is jumping into the composite wheel game with a range of four models in the usual three wheel sizes. Coming into stock around mid-February, RockGuardZ’s RimZ will be available for everything from XC through downhill use, with weights and widths varying accordingly.
RockGuardZ isn’t making any outsized claims about proprietary technology or design. What they are doing is providing carbon fibre rims in standard 32h drilling with a 12-month warranty for as little as £300- not inexpensive, but considerably less than bigger name brands. Weights certainly seem competitive for their intended uses- the 30mm wide XC/AM models could easily do duty on a pure race bike. As an added bonus, custom drillings can be provided and RockGuardZ will colour-match as many rims’ decals as you’d like to your frame for a one-time £75 setup fee.
Intended Use | Width | 26in | 27.5 | 29er | Retail Price |

A brilliant idea. I hope it’s successful. But I can’t help feeling that they should have created a new brand for this venture…
naive question but why is the DH rim narrower than the enduro rim?
No 35mm rim in 26″, think that would be a big seller.
is that £300 per rim or a pair?
just light-bicycles rims?
I don’t understand why anyone would buy these instead of getting a pair for less from lightbicycles. The decals on these look awful too, surely anyone could knock up a more attractive set in about 5 minutes?
