With a mission to discover the future of bike fashion and a focus on female interests, Sharon previews the up-coming collections by all the leading manufacturers at Eurobike 2013.
New Colours
The office highlighters seem to have been the inspiration for next year’s colours. A daring range of neons: shocking pink, popping turquoise, vivid reds and oranges, fluorescent greens and yellows feature in almost every range – Perfect for complementing sun-kissed olive skins, but maybe not so flattering for pasty Brits! Not sure as to what extent it will take off over here, as we do tend to be carefully conservative when making additions to our hardworking biking wardrobe.
The other new season colour trend is for shades inspired by the bazaar; golden spicy hues, rich yellows, oranges and henna red.
New Trends
X-Bionic’s body contouring (no baggies here!) thermo-regulated cycle wear stole the show with a mantra of “turning sweat into energy”.
Jackets with a view! High performance see-through material to protect you from the elements. A kind of posh rain Mac!
Rainbow slippers – Dorothy eat your heart out! Someone has waved a magic wand over these.
Socks go all the way! The trend for longer socks has reached new heights. I’m not sure we’re ready for this one yet.
Grey is the new black for baggies and three-quarters. A great contrast with the new brights.
Bike tops go soft on us! A number of manufacturers feature new skin friendly, cotton-feel fabrics for bike jerseys. No compromise on the wicking properties either; these have to catch on!
Companies to look out for
Funkier
Streetwise urban styling with an attitude.
Saw this jacket on with the ¾ black baggies below (actually men’s but they looked great on her) and wanted one!
Löffler
Austrian for quality! A company with strong eco ethics, who pride themselves on their credentials for in-house production.
Maloja
A lifestyle choice! Moroccan inspired designs in an extensive collection of high performance wear and leisure clothing.
Some other goodies that caught my eye
Endura
Scott
Gore Bike Wear
Sombrio
Vaude
Race Face
.and finally, my “to die for” favourites
Scott
Scott stole my heart with this sumptuously soft and effortlessly cool reversible red/orange soft shell and edgy grey coordinating shorts combo,
…and whilst I’m not quite ready for technicolour footwear, these super shiny statement black patents will be on my wish list!

Did Sharon try on any “X-Bionic’s body contouring (no baggies here!) thermo-regulated cycle wear ” ?
You’re sick ;oP
Well that look like the Mrs’ birthday 2014 is going to be some slippers then. Not sure she can do fluro or cheques/tartan bike gear, even if she can find anything to fit!
Nice to see a bit of variety, even if it’s not all to my taste. I’m fed up of womens cycling clothing being predominantly of pastel colours. Where’s the boldness!?
*sigh. Love the footwear, that’s bang on the money but the clothing looks like the clearance section at chainreaction.
Wow! There’s a reason I stick with black – purely practical of course. Can those fab colours cope with British mud of all varieties and come out of the washing machine still looking gorgeous?
Hmmm
Now that half the editorial team consists of girls who ride, we should be getting more women’s kit in to test this winter as well as all the usual boy’s stuff (I know I ride a lot but there’s a limit to how much kit I can test on my own!). So we’ll be able to report on function and technical detail, as well as fashion, for you…
Great to see some bold colours, and don’t get me wrong I love a bit of colourful style on the bike BUT it will be great to see some of this kit tested and to see how it holds up to some proper riding !!! Looking forward to your reviews Jenn……
As far as I can see there is only 1 pair of waterproof shorts from Maloja….hope there are more!
sort by greatest discount, buy the cheapest that fits, get it full of sweat and mud.
