Ahh, springtime. The return of birdsong, the sprouting of plantlife and of course, the return of the Chain Reaction Cycles MTB Marathon Series (powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport). The first round of the longrunning series will be hitting Builth Wells, Mid Wales, in just four weeks time, on the weekend of the 9/10th April.
As is traditional, the Exposure Lights Big Night Out will kick off the weekend of racing with a 43km long night marathon. Starting from Penmaenau Caravan Park, the night ride will have around 1,105m of climbing and should take around 3-5 hours to complete.
The following Sunday daytime will see the 75km Long Distance ride (with a wince inducing 2,150m of climbing) plus 53km Half Marathon and 31km Mini Marathons if that’s a little much for you.
Riders who are going for the weekend double are promised plenty of variety between both courses an will also get rewarded with a £15 discount on the overall price. The event base has lots of hard standing, perfect access roads and facilities and is only a very short walk from the centre of Builth Wells. There is a bar on site as well. You can find the details on the both events at the www.mtb-marathon.co.uk site, along with all the course details.
The MTB-Marathon guidebook is now available and if you are keen to get a free copy then you just need to send the MTB Marathon team your full UK postal address and they’ll send a copy.
