Midweek Mini Movies

by 7

We’ll kick off this week’s video’s with a blast from the past – well, kind of. Dave Flynn from Orange didn’t bother with Eurobike and went back in time to the Old World MTB Championships. Retro-tastic…

Also from a different era is this public information film from the 70’s. There’s good advice to keep your bike locked up and write the frame number down but the well dressed gentleman at around 21s in has something in his saddlebags he’d rather not talk about. What could it be?

Well, we’re halfway through September and it’s starting to get a bit chillier. On the upside it does mean that the Snowdon Voluntary Cycling Agreement ends in 15 days so you can go and ride the biggest mountain in England or Wales at a sensible hour. This video from Colin Herd is a good reminder why you should get your hike-a-bike head on and get up there..

Everyone’s edits from the World Champs at Mont St Anne are starting to filter through now. Here’s Transition Racing’s edit, with bikes getting stickered up in national colours, Bryn Atkinson getting unlucky and Jill Kintner getting a result to be happy about..

Finally here’s a clip from Gee Atherton’s winning run at the Windham World Cup. Worth waiting through the shaky bits for the bonkers bottom-out..

Excellent vid on the Retrobike champs. Nice to see Tim Davies, always wondered what had happened to him. Love people taking things just that little bit too seriously (the Retrobike judging) or did I just miss the irony of the judge.

Looked like an ace event and probably more to my speed than modern festivals and riding.

    Nice selection this week.
Not often you see a Tushingham. I remember going to a trials event (maybe even a race) in Pately Bridge once where there were about 20 Tushinghams – all with various U-Brake positioning. I think that’s where I first met Brant too – he was there with his father sporting some strange built-in bar-ends with the brake levers on the ends.
    Good days!

Jees that was the drop that did for Peaty. If only Peaty had hung on he would of won that.

Retrobiking looked great I so wish I’d not sold my RC200. Better get the old 91 GT Tequester done up.

Snowdon here I come – great clip, sums up my sort of mtb-thanks, good one!!

Is it really only thirty years or so since the people depicted in the Bicycle Thefts video could be seen as typical cyclists? How time flies.

Ah ha! I was wondering why the stats for my Snowdon vid had gone through the roof. Cheers guys. It is a proper epic ride too, I can’t wait to do it agian.
