Mike has sent us an update about the 2010 Transwales event. It’s only a month away so it’s time to make a decision and get your entry in if you’ve been wavering. If vicarious pleasure is more your thing, Singletrack’s Nathan will be riding and reporting from the event…
Less than a month to go now before the GORE BIKE WEAR™ TransWales 2010 powered Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport will see riders from 14 nations make their way to the start in Builth Wells on the 14th of August.
The TransWales event, now in it’s fifth year is going to cover a whopping distance of over 500km and riders will climb over 15,000metres allowing all competitors to test themselves fully and experience the best Wales has to offer.
Details of the almost entirely new course are available on the events website HERE or through the TransWales Facebook page.
At this year’s event there will be five special stages. These will include night riding, a predominantly climbing stage and also a vertically assisted timed run (mainly downhill!).
The GORE BIKE WEAR™ designers have created a new jersey just for the race finishers of the 2010 TransWales event. You won’t find this jersey in any shop and it is totally unique to this year’s event. Here’s a sneak preview:
They are still coming in and we will stay open for entries as long as we can. All categories are available – and don’t forget you can ride as a pair or on your own. So if you are still looking for a suitable partner or need to make sure that you can get the time off – don’t worry you can still get in.
There are two ways of entering the GORE BIKE WEAR™ TransWales – you can either download an entry form from our entry page HERE and send it through to us together with your payment or you can use the new online entry which you can find on the same page.
We are looking in particular for more ladies teams to take part in the BUFF Open Female pairs category. It would be great to get some more teams into that one so that the category is more competitive. So maybe try to talk your female riding buddies into giving it a go. There is an over all prize fund of more than £ 10,000 in Gore Bike Wear, Exposure Lights products and cash to be won in the TransWales – so don’t miss out on this great opportunity.
Quite a few of you out there are already involved in our TransWales Facebook page which was originally created by TransUK regular Matt Carr. We now joined forces with Matt and will turn the existing page into the official GORE BIKE WEAR™ TransWales 2010 page. So if you are not already part of the group make sure you go to it HERE to get yourself signed up. We will use the page as much as possible from now on to update everybody on the latest developments and happenings. Besides that we will obviously put updated, news and pictures from the event week up on our Facebook page throughout the event week.
The GORE BIKE WEAR™ team will once again be treating all competitors with a chance to try out their award winning products. What better place to ‘test ride’ a jacket than in the harshest conditions Wales has to offer?
Each contestant will be able to test ride an item of clothing for one day, at the end of that day’s ride they simply hand back the dirty, smelly items of clothing to the GORE BIKE WEAR™ boys and carry on with their normal post ride activities.
Riders will be able to take them up on this offer on certain evenings, between dinner and prize givings, and also during day on stages 1 and 4, at the start of the special stages.
But that’s not all, because if you like the test kit so much that you want to buy it, there will be a retailer partner at the event who will happily sell you a nice new item of their clothing.
During the whole event, even on stages, the guys from GORE will be out there. So feel free to ask them any technical questions or just ask them for advice.
