Local bearded nutter, Singletrack Magazine Test Squadron Member and bike guide Ed “Great Rock” Oxley has sent us a video of his mate Nigel Page playing on the new pump track over th’hill in Bacup.
Ed: “Here’s a video that I shot last week on the new pump track at Lee Quarry. I’ve not ridden a pump track before and now I know what I’ve been missing. It’s addictive fun and it’s a fantastic workout. Luckily I went up there with Nigel Page who knows a thing or too about pumping and jumping and he gave me some tips. It was great to finally ride some of the stuff at Lee Quarry after spending time up there in the snow helping to build it. I can see this pump track being a great addition to the Singletrack Classic Weekender….just add beer!”
We will be including the pump track as part of an “after hours” fun event on the Saturday night of the Weeekender. Details to be confirmed (yes, it will onvolve beer).
Singletrack Classic Weekender, Lee Quarry, Lancashire, July 3rd-4th 2010
- 3 different races
- 1 bike
- The ultimate “all rounder” event
A weekend of Trials, Dounhill and XC racing. One entry fee – all three events.
What makes this event different from any other on the calendar?
The idea of the event is a light hearted competition to find the best all round mountain biker and for riders to work out where they stand in a test of skills, speed and endurance. The aim of the Singletrack Classic Weekender is to have a fun weekend of bike riding, good natured racing and a lot of socialising…
The disciplines:
There will be three events in the Classic Weekender that will lead riders to an overall position. It’s roughly based on old skool races, where one entry fee got you entry to three disciplines. The only difference being that in this event, all your performances count towards a final, overall position.
Weekender Ticket: £35.00.
Your one entry fee gets you entry to all of these events. They MUST be competed on the SAME BIKE.

Bl**dy hell, that sets the bar a bit high!
It’s all about progression 🙂
The “SAME BIKE” will need careful definition in the rules. Completely unchanged from start to finish?
Pedals only can be changed I believe. Same bike, same tyres.
andituk has it right there. If you really want to cheat you might get away with it, but it would be a Noddy and Big Ears thing to do!
