oneFgear is reluctant (due to fear of failure more than anything else) to present the “oneF Weekend”. A single-speed gathering with very little difference to any others, apart from the revolutionary idea to hold it as an enduro of sorts. Typical enduro’s are 12 or twenty four hours, but that’s often with gears. We think it’s about 8 times harder on a singlespeed, so to even it up that’ll equate to 3 hrs of chugging around a rather exciting course.
Now – this is a race. You can go as fast as you like, or as slow as you like, but there will be a winner, a loser and a load of people in between, with exciting prizes awaiting competitors.
When and where is this you may ask? Well, it’s from the 30th July 2010 to 1st August 2010 at a private estate just on the outskirts of the Peak district. The basic programme is a Friday night Time Trial of sorts around the singletrack section of the course, a BBQ and a bar and then on Saturday afternoon a 3hr enduro. Your efforts on the Friday will be highly rewarded with lap credits for the Saturday event.
Saturday night we’ll have an after race shindig with all the usual accompaniments of fun and frivolity. There should be some bike demos and Exposure lights available for the Friday night if you haven’t got a Halfords torch set. Sunday you can enjoy watching or even riding a round of the Midlands XC series
Go to www.onefgear.co.uk and follow the oneF weekend page. The event does have a maximum number of riders. Not for any other reason than we might find it hard to process hundreds of people, so get in quick.
It’s not so much “niche” as “nice”.
