2010 Marin Dusk Til Dawn

Registration is now open for the 10th running of the Marin Dusk ’til Dawn taking place October 2nd & 3rd 2010.

New developments for this year’s event include a new sponsor and a collaboration with the Forestry Commission that will see the event run from the High Lodge Visitor’s Centre. Joining Marin, title sponsor and long-time supporter of all racing in the Thetford Forest, is Exposure Lights. Exposure will be on site all evening offering the same great charging service you’re used to as well as showing off their revolutionary new lighting products.

Returning sponsors include Torq Fitness, Chelmer Cycles, Bike-Art, Singletrack Magazine, and City College Norwich’s Extreme Sports Therapy Unit, who will be offering sports massage for a small donation.

Starting from the High Lodge Visitor’s Centre will allow a host of comforts otherwise not available. The Centre will remain open all night offering hot foods from the café and access to indoor toilets that will be supplemented with the typical port-a-loos. Bike-Art will also be open for the duration of the event to provide bike product sales and support. Finally, there will be water available on site, a coin-operated bike wash, and free parking for all competitors.

This year’s entry cap is again 1000 riders. Solo entries cost £37, pairs are £64, three-person teams are £96, and four-person teams are £128. Every racer will receive a 10th Anniversary Marin D2D T-shirt to commemorate a decade of night time mountain bike racing!

Entrants must be sure to provide a valid current address when registering because High Lodge parking passes will be posted to the address on the entry form. Teams will receive one parking pass for each rider on the team. All parking passes will be posted to the team captain for distribution. Additional parking passes will cost £10 at the gate and will be valid from Friday evening until Sunday morning.

Registration will end Friday, 3 September or when we reach 1000 riders, whichever comes first, so don’t miss out! Full details can be found on the “Dusk ’til Dawn” tab of the Thetford MTB Racing website at www.thetfordmtbracing.com/d2d.htm

I have been a writer for nigh on 20 years, a photographer for 25 years and a mountain biker for 30 years. I have written countless magazine and website features and route guides for the UK mountain bike press, most notably for the esteemed and highly regarded Singletrackworld. Although I am a Lancastrian, I freely admit that West Yorkshire is my favourite place to ride. Rarely a week goes by without me riding and exploring the South Pennines.
