IMTTO Awards for Best Event in the World 2009 – Did Fort Bill win?

by 2

Who? The IMTTO (International Mountain-bike Trade Team Organisation) is made up of all the big bike companies and sponsors who field professional riders on the world race circuit. Just about any team with a van and a pro rider is a member and at the end of the year they vote for the best events of the year – best for riders, for organisation, facilities and atmosphere.

It’s great to see Fort William up the in second place, just behind Mont St Anne (who are due to host the 2010 champs, so that’s not a bad place to come second to).

But who’s this in 15th place? Ahead of the Champery World Cup, the Pump Track Worlds and the Madrid and Bromont World Cups? Yes, it’s the Singletrack Weekender! We’re rather chuffed about that as it’s the first we’d heard. So if you missed the 2009 event, now you know that you missed a stunner.

The 2010 event is taking place again in Lee Quarry on the weekend of July 2nd-4th. If you want to know roughly what’s involved, have a look here: http://www.singletrackworld.com/weekender/
