Word from Michael Wilkens is that the 2009 Kona Bristol Bikefest (6-7th June) is filling up quickly…

Here’s what he has to say:

The days are getting longer, the trails are getting dry and fast, time is ticking on and the 1st Kona Bikefest of the 2009 season is only two more months away. On the 6-7th June the Kona Bikefest (www.bike-fest.com) is returning to one of the best mountain bike racing locations the UK has to offer – the sweet and swoopy single tracks of Ashton Court, Bristol.

Entries:
The entry has been open for a few weeks now and they have been coming in thick and fast with the solo categories being once more extremely popular. Saturday is filling up very quickly and we can only recommend at this stage to get your entry in fast to avoid disappointment. Regarding the solo categories we only have a hand full of spots left so if you are keen to race in the 12 hour event on Saturday on your own then please don’t wait any longer and get your entry in now.

We still have lots of places available for the 6 hour and newly added 3-hour novice event on Sunday but with the camping space filling up unexpectedly quick (more about that in a minute) we would like to recommend to get your entries in soon.

Providing we have capacity left we will have day entry available. Please make sure that you check the website for updates before you head over to the event without an entry. To avoid all the stress and to save yourself the £5 day entry surcharge why not simply enter in advance via our entry page: http://www.bike-fest.com

Kona Bikefest Loyalty gift:
Don’t forget that you are entitled to our Bikefest loyalty gift worth more than £25 if you either enter both events on the same Bikefest weekend or if you enter the Kona Bristol Bikefest and the Kona Cheddar Bikefest (12-13th September, info on: http://www.bike-fest.com/cheddar/index.php) in the same year. Please note that you will be charged the £5 surcharge if you add the Sunday or Saturday event to your pre-entered event on the day. So if you’re toying with the idea of doing both it might be worth entering both in advance.

Camping filling up quickly:
The camp ground next to the event village is filling up very quickly and is almost 90% full. We have extra camping space available which is next to the NEW FOR 2009 showers and bike washing facilities but a few hundred metres further away from the hand over area. If you want to get into the event village camp ground make sure that you enter as soon as possible.

"Dude, where's my team mate?"

We have had lots of requests of riders wanting to camp next to their friends. We are doing our very best to accommodate all your requests however we cannot guarantee that all requests will be possible due to the limited space. If you enter together in the same envelope or online then there is a good chance to get you next to each other, if you know anyone who has not entered and wants to camp better tell them to hurry up as we have used 90% of the available space. Please check the website for your camping pitch details.

The weekend’s entertainment:
The Kona Bristol Bikefest is not just famous for its superb riding and relaxed festival like atmosphere but also for its great evening entertainment. We will have the bar open on Friday and Saturday night and have organised a DJ who will play some tunes in the main marquee. As the main music act we have signed up ‘The Mudheads’ who will take the stage in the main marquee on Saturday night after the prize presentation.
