Yesterday was the last ride of 2011 for me. A cracking 20 miler round The Long Mynd with a few friends, yeah we got wet but it didn't dampen our spirits at all.
Monday will be the first of many for 2012

Hamsterley black route was yesterday's last ride of the year for me. Frozen in places- boggy in others! Well worth the slog up to the transmitor though! All the best for 2012
Cycled from home in Hazlemere to favourite viewpoint in the Chilterns, Whiteleaf Hill, then did many slippy slidey downhills off it before meeting wife and daughter in Princes Risborough.
I've done my first ride of the day but my last ride of this year will also be the first ride of next year. Heading out about 10.30-11 for a couple more hours on the mtb and start 2012 at the top of a great descent. Did it solo last year but have company this as so many folks were jealous of my last new year.
Just back from 17 miles around Leeds. Went to try and find the new offroad trail from Temple Newsham to Roundhay Park.
Last one of the year for me today. Heres to loads next year.
A sloppy Bringewood.
It is done. 18kms around the local woods. Good to run into 3 different groups of kids out biking and found some of them building a gnar trail which I'll check out next year. 4001.38 kms for 2011 and 40650m elevation gained. All in my own time, for fun. No commutes here
Muddy one in Wentwood forest yesterday and an hour's blast around town this afternoon. Good to see the local outdoor skate park packed with kids on bikes/scooters . . . why Newport City Council have seen fit to demolish it (just a couple years after it was built) next year to make room for another football pitch I have no idea
. . . the adjacent pitch was virtually empty in comparison
eye, yep, had a muddy ride yesterday over Summit area at Littleborough and around Blackstone Edge...nice loop with a good grassy downhil decent closely followed by my sons running Husky dog ...just kept on running....
Had a muddy slog to QE park this morning then spent an hour with the QEPC trail builders mid ride felt really good giving a little back to the trails I have ridden for years
had a nice 15 mile local loop this afternoon to finish the year with.
Happy New Year and keep the pedals turning for 2012
Final overnight trip of 2011, went for the soft bothy option ... something I was very glad about given the conditions
42 miles with what felt like an onshore head wind 90% of the ride

Same again tomorrow?
I've just come back from a two and a half hour ride on my crosser with my eight month old son in the Chariot trailer. I get good boy points from the gf, my son gets to sleep and I get some strength training in!
Have a happy new year! I might go down the road a bit later and watch the fireworks of a different kind at the traditional fight between the local punks and the police!

Bet that was at Mammoth
yep indeedy where you one of the lads with the lynskey helix jobbo?
I did 1.7miles untill my knee started hurting again! Only been like this for 6 days now and am feeling like the walls are closing in on me.
Im praying that my knee gets better as looking forward to racing 2012....
Is that bothy haunted, face at the window and orbs!!!
No ride today setting sons bike up, Christmas present on local trails. Armed with allen keys and labrador!!
Heading out over the Pentland hills tonight - leaving at about 10pm and will be perfectly located to watch the fireworks go off over Edinburgh at midnight. Just me, my fiancee and a small bottle of champagne (oh, and two very muddy bikes...)
If its last ride that finishes in 2011 - that was yesterday. A 40+ miler in the Pentlands as training for next weeks puffer.
A couple of hours on the road bike around watership down for me. All a bit wet and windy but new mudguards are ace!
Loop around Bath, first Lansdown and back via Charmy Down. Muddy like hell. All my clothes are now dripping on the kitchen floor. Must warn the cat.
Earlier today 37 miles along some very muddy former railway lines in Derbyshire
Llandegla with a couple of friends , finished with a cake and a brew .. nice day
yep indeedy where you one of the lads with the lynskey helix jobbo?
Yup,mate was on the Lynskey & I was on the proper sized wheeled MTB
I was on the proper sized wheeled MTB
my god a proper real life actual mountain biker rather than some sort of attention seeking silly fad whore. I thought you lot had all died out
14 of us from the local mtb club went out on the 28th and did a 50km ride in the Brecon beacons , very very muddy , pub stop halfway round for food and drink and bring our fingers and toes back to life in front of a log fire.
Down to Sandbanks ferry and back on the Langster. Flask of coffee on a deserted Boscombe pier.
Yes, I should have gone off road but I didn't want to get my new bargain Dare2Be jacket muddy.
Lucky people! My last ride of 2011 was in mid-November. Not likely to be out for another month or so either. Bad year for biking for me, so roll on 2012!
just rode over to my folks the same way you went Sue. There were some *whispers* roadies having a natter on Pabo Lane, I gave 'em a salute
and I'm not going back to work this year ever again, ever. Stuff 'em.
Sent off 2011 with a 18 mile ride in the mudfest of the Clwyds. Great fun
Managed a pootle on Salisbury Plain and the last couple of miles saw some drizzly rain.
So nice to be out even though it wasn't 'proper' mountain biking. I did ride my singlespeed though.
Only saw one other mtb'er too.
Unfortunately a DNF in Round 11 of NDCXL at Thornbridge today.
Snapped rear mech hanger at end of first lap. Hey Ho!!
Absolute Disaaarster Daarling!....
Past caring now as made an early start on the vino and looking forward to New Year Festivities.
Have a good one all.
My last ride of the year will be a short one with Mrs BigJohn into Stafford (to say HNY to BigJohn Jr who's working behind the bar at the Lord Nelson)then over to the Railway Inn for the evening's entertainment featuring an all-vinyl disco (they don't own a mic - bliss).
My first ride of 2012 will be a drunken wobble home.
Followed by a morning ride over Cannock Chase at 9:30 with my usual riding buddies.
Steady pedal round GT. First ride out in abou 8 weeks due to some lousy chest infection. It did not kill me so I must be stronger!
Rode from Ambleside to kentmere, over garburn, down Jenkins Crag and back to Ambleside. Was very very wet and wild
Few miles with the kids this afternoon. Done a fair bit this year, most of it ss 29er enabled. More running than riding this festive season, will be out at 6:30 in the morning for my usual 4.5 mile loop.
