I have bought a wireless adaptor for the Xbox, is a “Wireless N” . My router is a few years old, is a Wireless G ( Linksys SRX200)……..

I can’t get the Xbox to connect to my network, is this because my router and adaptor are incomparable? I ordered it because it said compatible with a,b,g,n networks so am presuming it should work. Do I need to set the router to work with a a wireless N adaptor?

    Thanks

You mean you bought a generic wireless adapter?

If so, as far as I know only the official xbox wireless adapter will work

mcboo, I think in theory, other makes should work, but I had all kinds of headaches with mine – tried a few WAs that I had lying around which should have worked. Then bit the bullet, bought the XBox one and hey presto, not a problem since.

Do you think it is because I bought a non Microsoft adaptor? Loads of people use them……

Yes. Unofficial ones are notoriously unreliable.
