Supermarket ready-roast chicken bought yesterday afternoon, and left in my (cool) hotel room all day.

Don't forget that the average kitchen contains more bacteria than your bathroom, so to make sure you don't die, use the toilet seat as a plate.
(Not sure whether that's a clean toilet or......)

"Die" is probably too strong a word for it, but you're probably one fart away from pebble dashing your underwear with partly digested faecal matter, which will then rapidly seep down the trouser legs, leaving a dirty protest all the way down the corridor as you rush to the loo. It could be a long night. I'd say don't do it.

Right, googled it and people are saying 2 hours, and someone even said it was no good if it was out of the fridge for more than 30 mins! Lunacy! you couldnt' even get it home from the supermarket in that time.

Well I work in Aldershot. To be honest, it's not that bad at all. I live in South Wales and have been to Merthyr Tydfil a few times. Makes Aldershot look like Belgravia.

My better half who knows about such things says supermarket chicken definitely a no no even after a few hours at room temperature.
Whilst the bottom is not necessarily going to fall out of your world, it will feel like the world is falling out of your bottom.

Hotel rooms are generally pretty warm so I'd bin it.
On a similar note I have a fresh chicken in the fridge. Use by date is today. Shall I cook it tomorrow or bin it?
I was going to use the smell test tomorrow but I'd like the wisdom of the group.

As said above, trust yer nose, I found some kidney beans from 2003 a few months ago, tasted fine. 2 month old Yakult it would appear is also fine. MrsT tried to throw away a three month old bottle of olive oil the other day because it was a month before its best before date. That was a fight! I used to have a mate called goat because he would eat anything and he... actually, I'll save you that pleasure. Get it out of the bin and eat it! Yes 3 days later.
