To go on an otherwise all Ultegra 10 speed transmission. I seem to remember KMC chains being recommended on here recently but can't find the thread. Having a powerlink or similar for cleaning purposes would be a definite selling point.

KMC X10 (L or SL depending on how bling you want to go).

KMC X10L works fine for me

Got a KMC L (in gold finish!) seems tough, but much noiser than my old SRAM chain and shimano chains, I would actually go for an ultegra 'directional' chain (make sure you fit it carefully the right way round!) - you get these really cheap (my last one was £20!) shimano get a bad rep for MTB chains - but my experience is that shimano ultegra road chains are 100% reliable and most importantly much, much smoother running and shifting as road chains. I used mine for about 3000 miles for road rides and cross races - only changed as routine maintenance.
I will buy another for my cross bike when the KMC wears out.
I always use KMC on MTB and single speed crosser though.

Been alternating between ultegra and dura ace chains, but after those two are done I'll probably look at prices, and if its cheaper or about the same, go for a connex one. Nothing wrong with the shimano ones, they've been working very well, it's just connex ones are awesome.
