Hi I need a smallish non-hydration backpack to carry usual tools, keys, phone and extra layer etc for shortish trail rides (2-4hrs).

    Any suggestions?

    Osprey would get my vote.

Have a look at the OOM ones – I think they start at 10l

OMM or Osprey Talon packs here too.

Aren’t those little Osprey packs a bit pricey at about 50 quid for the little one? Or are they the dogs bits of small packs?

Why narrow your choices, you can always just leave the bladder out?

Lots of bags come hydration ready with the holes in to take the pipe.My Karrimor Hotrock is hydration ready.Off road I use a Lidl bag with bladder ,about 12 quid!!

20 quid for the Alpkit bag is more like it.

wingnut assault bag (or splitback for a bit more space).
