Must be OS based and tell me where I am – anyone got a recommendation that I can shamelessly take up?

    Many thanks

Back Country Navigator. Buy it for £6 then download as much of the OS as you want. Tracks well too.

    Maverick Pro.
For £3.50 you can cache OS maps onto your SD card.
    Sucks batteries but does work.
The free version doesn’t do the cacheing.

For tracking where I’ve been I use My Tracks.

+1 for viewranger, buddy beacon is worth it by itself.

Fabulous – the borg mind of STW comes up trumps again. Thanks all!

MM tracker, you’ll need to get maps from elsewhere but they are stored on your SD card and interfaces perfectly with the gps.
