I’m fed up… It’s been snowing on and of now since the beginning of November and it’s been snowing all day today, too. My local tails have been under several feet of snow since mid November and after today I can’t see them being rideable for at least another month or more (my local tails are the alps). And after working the last two weeks outside putting on a roof in less than ideal weather has got me thinking about upping and leaving (again) for pastures new.
So, where to?
Major factor being climate. I don’t mind weather, but months of cold, grey, snow-laden skies isn’t what I’m after. Also needs to have something in the way of hills for riding.
Don’t want to move to some third world country or anywhere where they speak Spanish.
How about learning to ski? If you’re in the Alps then it would seem the logical idea (at least to me). I’m in Canada and I’ve not ridden a bike off-road since October (and that was in Moab) but I’ve spent 40+ days on skis and a change is as good as a rest….
Another vote for Canada. You’ll miss tea, good sausages and cheap cheese, as well as a sense of fashion; but seeing the sun is great (even when it’s -20), skiing regularly is easy, and the people are very nice.
Andalucia.I have been here 9 years and still love it.Apart from recent rain you can get out all winter. No good if you need to work though as country is in serious trouble.
Whatever you do don’t come back to the hole that is the uk. Nearly April and its -4 outside and not looking like getting any warmer over the next few weeks.
