    Just those….

    What about crank brothers wheelset, hope hoops, chris king on flows…… what budget…..

    I’ve budgeted roughly £500 for a sub 1500g wheelset and these all come under the budget. Not keen on hope hubs and just from a bit of research can’t find many combinations including CK or Crank Bros that don’t cost a lot more for any significant weight reduction.

    Always liked the DT Swiss 240s hubs mind but those with Crests and brass nipples on a custom build with JRA or CRC come out at about £575. I’d pay it if I felt they would be better wheels but… I would welcome people’s advice.

    I got the same wheels from JRA, only with the arch rims. The hubs are excellent, had them nearly 12 months and still as smooth as the day I got them. Snapped a few spokes, but thats just because I’m a clumsy sod! Well recommend them.

    What’s JRA?

    Crests on Hope hubs, Olympics on DT 240s. I have a pair of each and both perfectly fine but 240s are much pricier than Hope hubs and not amazinglky lighter or more reliable.

    @Dan, JRA = http://www.justridingalong.com/ , purveyors of wheel bling

    edit: ooh, just had a look and noticed that ZTR Hubs on Crest Rims are £50 cheaper than the last time I looked. Tempting…

    Thanks all. Got the Syncros carbons down to £450.

    Not convinced by carbon rims but worth a punt at that price.

    I’ll let you know how I get on, when or if my frame makes it over the pond.
