    Hi,

My LBS has just replaced a DT swiss 4.2 rim (cracked) with a mavic xc717 using the original spokes. However I have noticed that there is swarf where the nipples screw onto the spokes.

Should they have used spokes of a different length?

    Cheers

Take off your rim tape, and have a look if the spokes are sticking through the nipples, or are buried down inside. they should be about flush.

    Thanks leebaxter.

Running the wheel tubeless – so not something i'll do now – but next time I'm replacing the tyre I'll have a look.

Was just wondering whether somebody on here had a chart that would show whether the same spokes can be used for both rims.

    Cheers

I've just had a look and it seems like there may be a mm or so in it, but it also depends on the hub.

    Thanks Dibbs,

Yes, should have said, this is on a CK iso disc rear.

My concern is that the correct tension may not have been achieved, as the wheel developed a "wiggle" on the first ride…..

    Cheers
