just moved to the Peak District and bought an On-One 456 Ti. Been running Panaracer Fire XC rear and Spesh enduro front, but just ripped a hole in my rear and found knobs missing from front - damned rocks!
Thus, I need to buy some new rubber - what do people recommend for winter in the Peak? I am looking at buying tubeless. A few people have recommended Maxxis Minnions, but they look pretty darned heavy - any thoughts?

Er, Maxxis Minion 2.35 DHFs front and rear - sorry - they're single ply so not particularly heavy. I run them tubeless converted on Stan's Flow rims and they do seem quite well suited to the Peak. Good and grippy on rock and softer stuff too. I'm not a quick rider, but they seem very reliable all-rounders and aren't particularly sluggish either and not made expensive.
I've used NN(f) and RR(r) all year round before now, but they're expensive and the sidewalls eventually get rubbed through by the abrasive local gritstone and they're a triumph of speed over grip generally, though better than you'd think. Mad expensive at UK prices.
I just read your post again, if you're tearing knobs off regularly, you're probably a much more aggressive rider than me. Have you looked at High Rollers? Another capable all-round tyre.
Cheers BWD, will probably look to going for Minions on your advice - they're just heavier than my current tyres.
I run 2.35" Nevegal rear and Blue Groove front when I ride up there.
