Tinsy, I run 40 at both ends, means i can ride faster

    40 – 60 psi depending on terrain.

I use the minimum on my sidewall and also my weight. 35-45psi.

I do notice my front tire sliding too much or rebounding badly if the wrong pressure is used

-probably from my weight/riding position as the rear never slips.

Tyre pressures depend on how light you are and how heavily you ride. Given that I only weigh in at 11 stone and tend float over stuff I get away with 25-27psi up front and 27.5psi in the back.

What started out as my mate taking the pee out of me, has actually got me thinking of dropping my pressure a fair bit for tonights ride. going to give 35 rear, and 30 front a try…

Be careful tinsy – low pressures are good for traction, but poor when cornering hard (tyre rolling off rim etc) and increase in pinch punctures.

I would rather be a touch high on pressure, and not have a problem…

What matt_outandabout said (the picture), I never use tyre gauges, I just run what feels right when I squeeze the tyre 🙂

fair enough, maybe I will just drop a few psi at a time and experiment then.

As I did the last post a big question mark popped into my head about the front tyre rolling a bit…

what chvck said but then a little bit less for the front on rocks

Drop the pressures – low = more grip and much less pinging and richocheting off roots n rocks.

When you get down to a pressure that gets you pinch flats every now and then, first of all try and stop whacking into stuff so hard, and if that doesn’t work then you have indeed gone too low on pressures.

The photo is good – squishy like an orange, not hard like an apple!
